Harlem United's Housing programs are available to persons living with HIV/AIDS. Harlem United only accepts referrals for housing from NYC's Human Resource Administration's HIV/AIDS Services Administration (HASA). Questions for HASA can be directed to their ServiceLine, 212-971-0626.

Harlem United's Adult Day Health Center (ADHC) serves people living with HIV/AIDS in a friendly, stress-free, healing environment. The treatment center was established with the goal of assisting multiply-diagnosed clients adhere to complicated antiretroviral regimens while addressing other co-morbidities.

You can apply for Medicaid in any one of the following ways: Write, phone, or go to your local department of social services. You can also mail in an Access NY Health Care application to your local department of social services, or apply with the help of an enrollment facilitator.

HCH is an integrated harm reduction program providing services to homeless and transient populations with a history of substance use and mental health illnesses. "Homeless" is defined as anybody who does not have a lease in their name (i.e. living in shelters, on the street, in transitional housing, etc). HCH integrates Harlem United's Healthcare for the Homeless and Treatment for the Homeless programs.
Services provided, but are not limited to, access to healthcare, dental care, and psychiatric services; behavioral health services, individual and group counseling, case management, outreach and community organizing, and linkages/referrals to other programs.
HCH serves homeless and marginally housed men and women, and people with a history of substance use. Services are provided regardless of HIV status, insurance status, or immigration status.
HCH and Harlem United's Primary Care clinics provide walk-in services for healthcare appointments, however you are encouraged to call and make an appointment. If you have Medicaid, please bring your card with you. If you do not have Medicaid, we will assist you in getting your benefits in place.
HCH will provide you with individual and group counseling services to discuss topics such as substance use, harm reduction, safety from homelessness, vocational skills, life management and wellness living skills, and more.
HCH provides services to individuals with a history of substance use. You can be in any stage of preparation for recovery, and if you're not ready, that's fine to. We will work with you at achieving your goals, at your own pace. Our Treatment for the Homeless program will assist you with addressing how to minimize harms caused by substance use, and prepare you for a path of recovery if that's your goal.
We can provide HIV, Syphilis, Gonorrhea, Hepatitis C and Chlamydia testing. All testing is free of charge.
We provide free HIV and STI testing Monday to Friday 10am to 4 pm at our 290 Lenox Avenue location.
For the summer months we have extended testing hours on Tuesdays and Wednesday 10am-630pm
You can obtain your Rapid HIV test results in about 20minutes, STI results can be picked up in about 1 week.
Blood tests are conducted for Syphilis and Hepatitis C testing. Urine collection is required for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea testing.
