Prevention Division

Overview

The Prevention Division works to stem the spread of HIV/AIDS among medically underserved communities in New York City. We engage in community education and outreach about harm reduction and high-risk behaviors.
We offer integrated HIV prevention services for our community, including:

Office- and street-based HIV counseling and testing
Home-based HIV testing on demand
Sterile syringe exchange; and
Hepatitis and STD screenings and vaccinations.

We make connection to medical care for those newly-diagnosed as HIV-positive a top priority. We also specialize in high-risk populations, including:

MSM’s of color;
Women;
The transgendered;
Sex workers; and
African immigrants.

In addition, the Prevention Division is engaged in several epidemiological studies to evaluate the effectiveness of various HIV prevention and testing strategies.
The Prevention Division consists of four departments:

Education and Training;
HIV Testing Services;
FROST’D @ Harlem United;
and
The Blocks Project.
