This year has been a very introspective year. I have discovered a lot about who I am, and what I am capable of doing. Through working with a close friend of mine--Maria A. Davis--I decided to participate with her in this year's ING NYC Marathon. Not too many people get this opportunity, and I am taking full advantage of it.
I chose to participate with Harlem United for I have worked with them on numerous occasions as we have offered free rapid HIV testing in the Harlem community utilizing Harlem United's staff. Together we are helping to show our local community the importance of knowing your HIV status.
I lost my father to his personal battle with HIV/AIDS when I was four years old. Through the years that has always left an imprint on my spirit. I work along side Maria A. Davis within our Helping Erase AIDS through Love, Education, and Deliverance (H.E.A.L.E.D.) Ministry in First Corinthian Baptist Church (FCBC), but professionally I work for the Aaron Diamond AIDS Research Center (ADARC). I have great coworkers, we conduct novel research studies, and I am one happy individual. Everyday is an adventure for me.
I am a visionary and a dreamer and where I have been placed today was for reason. I run for my family, my community, and for all those that aren't aware of their full potential. We can achieve whatever it is we set our hearts and minds to.

11-08-2010 Update:
First I want to say congratulations to TEAM HARLEM UNITED!!! Everyone did such a great job (i.e. runners and staff)!!! 4:18:50 was my final time as I stepped across the finish line! Wow! I estimated that I would finish around four hours and I did just that. If it wasn't for the constant support before, ESPECIALLY during, and after the race I don't think I would have made it. My knees are sore, but I feel great!! I will have to give next years marathon some thought, though. I'll see how I feel after about a week or two when I start running again. Again THANK YOU so much!!!
