Marathon fundraising page

Those of you who know me well are aware that almost 10 years ago I started a new life with a wonderful supportive husband who has encouraged me to follow my dreams and goals. I made a choice to stop being defined by my past but by whom I knew I could be. Because of my family's support and encouragement I have been free to work towards my personal, career, and educational goals. Since then I have gone back to school to complete my Bachelor’s degree and now I am very close to completing my Masters. I have changed career paths to the Human Resource field working for an amazing organization called Harlem United. I see how the Harlem United Community Aids Center has made such a difference in people’s lives and I want to be a part of supporting them.

Last year I decided that I would overcome an issue that has been plaguing me all my life, the constant struggle with my weight. Thus far I have accomplished my weight loss goal for the year and I am well on my way to my weight loss goal for 2012. I decided to attempt the half marathon while watching and supporting my co-workers who ran the full marathon. After witnessing people with severe physical challenges who were running to support their cause and feeling their excitement and sense of pride over realizing their goal, I felt I had no excuse.
I know I am not in the shape that the average runner is in and I may have to walk all or part of it if my knees don’t cooperate but I will be crossing the finish line on March 18th (at some point.) Please help me raise money towards this great cause and achieve my goal for 2012.
