Three years ago, I decided to finally get off my butt and do something I've wanted to do for a while - run a marathon. So I tried - twice - and got injured - twice. All I wanted to do was to finish one marathon in my life...or so I thought. Last year, I ran the NJ Marathon and quickly realized that it wasn't enough (and it wasn't the NYC Marathon!).
So this year I plan to run the 2012 NYC Marathon. I'm running not only to fulfill a personal goal, but also to raise money for an incredible organization - Harlem United. Harlem United provides HIV/AIDS care for low income individuals in New York City by offering prevention, housing and health care services. I am personally connected to Harlem United and very familiar with the important services they provide. My wife, Karen, leads one of their HIV/AIDS prevention departments - providing social services, rapid HIV testing and syringe exchange services.
I'm writing to you today to ask for your support by making a donation to Harlem United. In order to run, I have a fundraising goal of $3,000 but hope to blow way past that. ANY donation you can make is appreciated and I can assure you that all money raised will be directly used to serve a population in need.
