Director of Public Relations and Communications

The Director of Public Relations and Communications, reporting to the Associate Vice President of Strategy and Advancement, will take the lead in driving the agency’s internal and external messaging. They will oversee public relations, branding and internal/external agency communications, developing a communications plan in conjunction with the overall advancement strategy of the agency. This person will focus on elevating community and citywide awareness of agency programming, mission and vision, rebuilding the agency’s position as a thought leader for communities of color impacted by chronic conditions and who are facing extreme disparities due to racism, homophobia and transphobia. The Director will directly supervise the work of the Associate of Digital Media and Communications. The Director will support senior staff’s prospect engagement opportunities, strategies and solicitations, working collaboratively with the departmental AVP and Executive Leadership. Harlem United Education and Certificate:  A Bachelor’s degree is required (Communication, Marketing, Design majors preferred) or in lieu of formal degree, 3-5 years’ experience in Communications role;A Master’s in a related field is preferred (i.e., marketing, communication, journalism) Successful work-experience may substitute formal education requirements.
