Overdose Prevention Training

Naloxone is a medication designed to rapidly reverse opioid overdose. It is an opioid antagonist—meaning that it binds to opioid receptors and can reverse and block the effects of other opioids. It can very quickly restore normal respiration to a person whose breathing has slowed or stopped as a result of overdosing with heroin or prescription opioid pain medications.

This training will help those who participate in it, acknowledge and identify signs of when someone is potentially overdosing and how to go about reversing a potential opioid overdose. In addition, the steps which need to be taken to stabilize and keep overdose victim safe until help arrives. Participants will receive a naloxone kit and blue card verifying they have been trained in overdose reversal.
