Field Coordinator / Senior Test Counselor, Prevention

The Field Coordinator/ Senior Test Counselor is responsible for providing an array of in-house and mobile-based HIV/HCV/STI testing and navigation services to marginalized individuals and street-based populations including LGBTQIA individuals, people living with HIV, people who actively use and inject drugs, people with Hepatitis C, people who engage in sex work, and other high risk populations. Appropriate candidate will have knowledge of such street-based populations as well as appropriate oral and written communication skills. This position is also responsible for driving the mobile units to our various mobile site locations. Under the supervision of the Program Coordinator, the Field Coordinator/Senior Test Counselor will conduct several quality assurance activities in support of our rapid HIV testing programs and will assist in the management of peer educators. Mobile services are conducted utilizing a team-based, harm reduction approach that supports the client in identifying his or her own goals around safer sex and substance use. The Senior HIV Test Counselor will serve as lead in conducting rapid HIV testing on-site at Harlem United locations, at community based settings, including SROs, shelters, and public housing developments, and on the Harlem United testing van, throughout East, Central Harlem and the South Bronx.  The Field Coordinator will provide HIV education and risk reduction counseling, deliver rapid test results and conduct confirmatory test as needed.  Candidate will also provide referral and connection to medical care, mental health services, and other social services as required.  Conduct PCRS and refer to NYCDOHMH CNAP as needed.  Education and Certification: Masters Degree in Social Work/Public Administration/Public Health or related field, or Bachelors Degree plus equivalent combination of education and experience. At least 5 years’ experience in not-for profit service delivery; experienced in NYC HIV service delivery system; a deep knowledge of testing and HIV prevention, as well as harm reduction principles; experience working with at risk communities.
