Laboratory Coordinator, Health Services

Harlem United is the parent company for Upper Room AIDS Ministry (URAM).  URAM provides the healthcare services from our Federally Qualified Health Center located in the heart of Harlem.  We provide Primary Care, Specialty Care, Dental Care and Wellness Care to those seeking diagnosis and treatment. All employees of URAM are responsible to perform their job practicing good risk management, quality assurance, and delivering excellent internal and external customer service. The Laboratory Coordinator will be responsible for phlebotomy, handling of specimen, preparation of specimen to be sent to the reference laboratory.  The Laboratory Coordinator will be responsible for oversight of the CLIA waived Point of Care Testing and the documentation necessary to maintain CLIA waived status.   The Laboratory Coordinator will also be responsible for the oversight of the sterilization practices within the clinic, namely GYN, Podiatry and Dental.  Lastly, the Laboratory Coordinator will be responsible for training of appropriate personnel (i.e. Medical Office Assistants) on policy and procedures of the clinic draw station. Education and Certification:New York State Licensed Clinical Lab Technician. Phlebotomy Certification. Medical technician Certificate-preferred. BLS certification. Strong customer service acumen including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards, and evaluation of customer service. Ability to communicate and interact with others in a professional and courteous manner. Well organized paying attention to details. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to present information in one-on-one and small group situations. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions and percentages. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, instructions, and procedure manuals. Proficient in input data on a computer terminal in an accurate and efficient manner.
