Medical Records Coordinator, Health Services

Under the supervision of the Director of Compliance, the Medical Records Coordinator is an integral part of the agency’s health services department, whose primary responsibilities are to ensure the timely and accurate processing and maintenance of medical records by compiling, reviewing, processing, and maintaining medical records of clinic patients in a manner consistent with medical, administrative, ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements as well as healthcare industry standards. The MRC must ensure compliance to applicable confidentiality and privacy laws and regulations such as HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and NYS Public Health Laws Article 27-F of medical records, while maintaining the privacy of the clinic patients. This will require closely working in a team environment with direct coordination from Compliance and staff of Health Services. The Medical Records Coordinator supervises and ensures the compliance of Medical Record Clerk(s). Education and Certification:  Bachelor’s in health information management, healthcare administration, health informatics, or information systems, or related field required. Master’s preferred. Minimum of one-year experience working as a medical records clerk or MOA in a fast-paced clinical setting required. Experience with Pre-visit planning huddles. Intermediate to expert proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems (i.e., el-Care; eCW), required Certification in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or related field, preferred.
