Special Events Internship
For more than 30 years, Harlem United has served as a community based-health care organization focused on helping marginalized communities improve their health and well-being through compassionate, client-centered care. To support our programs and services, Harlem United produces a fall gala and several community and donor events each year. Our events are focused on raising crucial operating funds to sustain our work, attract new supporters, and build brand awareness in the community.
Harlem United has a Special Events internship opportunity for our 2019 fall gala. The Special Events Intern will be responsible for providing administrative support to the development, communications, and events teams while following an existing work plan. The intern will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with the behind-the-scenes aspects of event production processes, communication, business administration, special events management and strategic partnerships. The position is perfectly suited for someone who would like to experience the creative side of providing much need social services to the community. Education and Certificate: Professional and responsible manner with all staff and volunteers. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel with the ability to become adept with other computer database programs, including Raiser’s Edge. Strong organizational, multi-tasking, written and verbal communication skills. Ability to prioritize many projects and meet deadlines; attention to details. Ability to work in a team and give input on both the logistical and creative sides of event planning. Demonstrated interest in any of the following areas: healthcare in underserved communities, HIV/AIDS, LGBT, Harlem.
