Temporary Benefits Specialist, HR

The Temporary Benefits Specialist is responsible for performing, as part of a team, various HR Operations duties, including HU’s benefit’s administration, recruiting, employee relations, special projects, etc. He/She will work closely with the Senior Director of HR to support the administration of HU’s employee benefits plans. The Temporary Benefits Specialist will support benefits plan administration for all agency sponsored benefits programs and processes, including health, life LTD, 403[b], commuter, FSA, annual open Enrollment, new hire enrollment and all other benefits. In addition, they will perform payroll reconciliations and audits of benefits programs, work with the Senior Director of HR to ensure plan compliance with company and IRS regulations, provide participant support and education regarding eligible expenses, account balances and claims, enrollment and change deadlines. The Temporary Benefits Specialist will also process COBRA notifications and other employee communications as required, maintain employee confidential records while adhering to HIPAA requirements, work with the Senior Director of HR to generate and maintain vendor reporting and invoicing. Education and Certification:  BA Degree and a minimum of 5 years of HR experience in a generalist capacity, and at least 3 years’ experience in benefits administration in a non-profit organization, must be knowledgeable about healthcare reform and HIPAA regulations, proficient in Word, PowerPoint and Excel, In-depth knowledge of ADP Workforce Now, HRIS and reporting, strong understanding of labor and federal employment laws, and experience with maintaining benefits programs with vendors.
