FGC In the Clinic: A Dialogue between Survivors and Healthcare Professionals

Dr. Deborah Ottenheimer, Director of Harlem United’s Women’s Holistic Health Initiative, will join other panelists for a conversation between healthcare professionals and survivors of female genital mutilation (FGC) as they speak about their unique experiences in the clinic.

Hosted by Sahiyo, the event will feature speakers exploring the vital need for cultural competency in regards to the context in which FGC occurs within communities. Participants will learn best practices and effective communication between healthcare providers and their patients when it comes to providing the best care for survivors.
