It’s National Health Center Week (plus a special congratulations!)

This week is National Health Centers Week, and Harlem United proudly provides high-quality, affordable, and culturally-competent care to 3,000 primary care patients with complex health issues.

At Harlem United, our providers truly are the backbone of our clinic. We are thrilled to announce the promotion of one such provider, Dr. Vera S. Antonios, to Adult Medicine Medical Director of Health Care Services.

We’re not the only ones who know that Dr. Antonios is a remarkable doctor. She was recognized this week at the Health Care for the Homeless Day in New York City, as part of National Health Center Week. Our very own Dr. Antonios received a S/Hero Award for 2015, which acknowledges providers and staff who exemplify true heroes in the service of health care for homeless populations.

We know this is true. Dr. Antonios is Board Certified in Infectious Disease and Internal Medicine, and has been with Harlem United for three years. She is an exemplary physician, treating our homeless and other disenfranchised patients with high quality care. And she has helped to grow our Hepatitis C practice and so much more. She is a dedicated leader and a compassionate provider.

Dr. Antonios will be very important to the success of Harlem United’s new health clinic – The Nest – a 14,000-square-foot state-of-the-art facility that will open this fall.  We are proud of her and so proud to serve our community.

Happy National Health Centers Week!
