Harlem United Supports Contact Tracing Confidentiality Bill

Would you be more or less likely to answer contact tracing questions if you knew your responses were 100% confidential? Imagine getting a call from a contact tracer letting you know that the cousin you had dinner with last week has tested positive for COVID-19. You know that contact tracing is essential to stopping the spread of COVID-19. People have a right to privacy.

For those who have been targeted by the police or ICE, privacy becomes even more important. People need to know that their responses to contact tracers are private. That’s why, earlier this month, Harlem United signed on to a letter along with more than 70 other healthcare providers, civil rights advocates, and public defenders in support of a NYS bill that would ensure the privacy of contact tracing information.
